Just like other devices are scanned to get the data or information, similarly RFID devices are to be scanned to retrieve the data or information. 13.56 MHz can be said as a medium wavelength. This allows it to be in the read range of about 1 centimeter to 1 meter. The applications of this medium range RFID frequency include data transmissions, kiosks, access control applications, passport security, etc. all the applications where a long range is not require.

Also, depending upon the applications the size, shape and color may vary for 13.56 mhz RFID card.
